Setting: In a restaurant with relatives from my dad's side and the family of kuya's wife
Me talking to my 6 year old pamangkin: Go talk to them -- them referring to pamangkins from kuya's wife.
My 6 year old pamangkin: You know there is such a thing called as embarrassment!
Me: *jaw drop*

Child Talk
My niece asked these question to his gay uncle
Why are you sooo white?
In fairness, his face was really really white. As in, then match it with the plucked eyebrows and highlighted hair. Badingarsy alert!
Why are you wearing lipstick?
Promise, it was soooo red!
I love kids! They are so honest. They point out the obvious. I cannot believe that his/her.. its parents are mum about the situation.
Accepted na ba?

On I Don't Want to Wear Socks
I had this conversation with my 4 year old cousin who was about to go back to Chicago...
Cousin: I want to go home when I grow up.
Me: How old are grown ups?
Cousin: 10
Me: So where is home?
Cousin: *points down"
Me: Philippines or United States of America?
Cousin: Philippines.
He does not want to leave, but he has too. So I asked him to wear his socks because in less than an hour they need to go to the airport. But, guess what he said?
I do not want to wear socks cause I'm not going out.
Awww.
Eventually he knew he had to leave. So he allowed me to help him with his socks. While I helped him he asked me, are you coming with me and mom, right?
My heart melted again.
In the end my cousin left. However, he left with the expectation that I would visit him soon. He already saved a spot for me in his room so that we can play all day long.

Huwow, Technology!
It is how amazing how technology works. Now I get to constantly communicate with my 7 year old cousin who in the US through email. I know, she is only 7 years old and she is already computer savy.
I just got an email from her. She said how much she misses us and how she hopes to come back and visit the country on her vacation.
Isn't she a sweetie?

Mean!
Helper: Come... Sit...
Niece *looks terrified*
Manang: Uy, ang taba taba mo na.
Niece *looks like she wants to cry*
Helper: Sit down. Lean back so that we can finish this.
Niece: I don’t like her smell.
Manang: Huwow! Ang kyut kyut mo na. Kamusta ka na?
Niece: *stares*
Manang: Hindi ba siya nakakaintindi ng tagalong? English lang ba? How are you?
Niece says softly: I don’t like her face.

My niece hasn’t attended any of the Sunday reunions for almost a month. She finally showed up today and noticeably she gained weight. Apparently she has been taking steroids for health reasons. Among her illnesses is asthma. Thus she has to vaporize (?) for maintenance and not get sick.
I just hope that Manang did not here hear.
Tsk. Whatta brat! :p
