WBT 1

The 1st quarter began with the black team making 10 straight points. The red looked lost. There was no movement nor communication. Eventually, after almost half of the first quarter was over a driving basketball broke the ice for the red team. Then the red team had their run with a couple of three's. There was even a point wherein the red team was up by 10 but the black team rallied and tied the game with their pesky full court pressure and lucky three point baskets.

By the fourth the game was tight. There were deadlocks and lead changes. The red team was up by three but was soon tied by a lucky three pointer. Then, black team took the lead with a layup and was up by two. Both teams were in the penalty mid way through the the game. The game was tied once again by two converted freethrows by the red team. The black team fouled again that sent another red player to the line. She missed her first attempt as the crowd and black team taunt her loudly. However, the red player redeemed herself and made her second try and put the red team up by a single point. As the red palyer went down court she motioned "what, I cannot hear you" to the crowd.

With less than two minutes on the clock, the black team missed their attempt and red got the rebound. They brought the ball down quickly and took a three that didn't go in. There was a scramble for the ball and the red team got it back. But lo and behold, another three pointer was fired which still did not go in. Thus, another "agawan buko". A player in red emerged with the ball. This time, held on to it. Black team commited a foul which put her to the line for a couple of pressure packed freethrows that she calmly sank and put the team up by three points.

The black team still had the chance to tie the game with around twenty seconds left. The three point are was well defended that made it difficult to throw to shot. Thus they brought the ball in and hit a 2 point jumper as the time expired... and the red team began to rejoice.

Eye openers... again:
- Freethrows are very crucial. It can be the difference in the end.
- Defense is the best offense.
- I am old. I lack endurance!
